Lowell's Restaurant Seattle

OUR FAMOUS “SMOKED MEATLOAF SANDWICH” RETURNS!!!

Hand’s down the best “sloppy smoky awesome wintery warm inside comfort food” smoked meatloaf sandwich in the world!

Sit in one of our arcade side market booths and dive into our “locally famous” smoked meatloaf sandwich and people watch the shoppers down below on this nippy, rainy day!

Fresh Macrina ciabatta roll slathered with sun-dried tomato chipotle sauce then topped with our home-made smoked (in-house smoked, over hickory chips, no liquid smoke here) meatloaf, fresh iceberg lettuce leaves, tomato slices and Beecher’s Flagship white cheddar cheese! Pickle slabs and our house-seasoned french fries on the side completes it, and you won’t find this anywhere other than Lowell’s, because of course, we invented (or perfected, we didn’t find the recipe anywhere else, we think we invented it) house smoked meatloaf years ago, at 4AM, after many, many smoking inside miss-haps and trial & error. If we think it’s a fresh idea, we make it fresh for ourselves first and perfect it before it ever goes out!

Almost classy since 1957…

Man-o-man this is good,

Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal, get in early & carb up before your run!!!

April is holding our steel cut oatmeal (McCann’s, THE BEST!) pre-loaded for your AM regimen! The flavor of the cooked oats is described as being nuttier than other types of oats, and they are also chewier than the softer rolled oats most places serve. We serve our steel cut oats with dried cranberries and apricots, cinnamon-vanilla-turbinado raw sugar, and milk on the side. (Butter on request, of course). Get in at 7AM when we open, and get your carbs before your run along the Seattle waterfront (and accompany them with a glass of fresh squeezed OJ) THIS is a true Pacific Northwest morning in the market; fresh, healthy, tasty and fit!

Pike Place Market pre-run carb loading breakfast of the morning! (Or, try our post workout breakfast, our Fresh Market Veggie Egg Beaters Omelet to protein back up)

One of my favorite Buskers in the Market, PK Dwyer!

Playing the blues at the corner of Post Alley & Pike Place, right across from Lowell’s!

It’s probably 40 degrees out here, straight across the cobblestones from our arcade entrance, on a brisk autumn day, and PK Dwyer  is harping and strumming the blues, and you can tell he MEANS IT. His guitar case has some bills and some change and some self-produced CD’s in it, and he’s putting out “”TIN CUP BLUES” from his latest cd “ROUGH SHOD”, whick I pick up for a stocking stuffer. The market is full of fantastic street musicians “buskers” that have different styles that keep all of us alive even on the coldest days of the year. Every corner and in between we have singers, magicians, trios, dancers… but especially talented buskers playing their souls out. Pitch some loot in their guitar or fiddle cases, because they’re obviously not making rent doing this… and where else do you get to be an audience of one to something as real as this? It’s the real deal, just like the rest of the market… its not a mall!

*(by the way, look at his harmonic case behind him to the left, PK get’s down my friends!) visit www.pkdwyer.com for his joyous ride

Dungeness Crabs Cheer the new Day!

We get our fresh seafood daily from two doors down from HARRY, the best and hardest working guy in Pike Place Market! Go talk to him, he’s the big mustache!

Moon, Lights, Clock 11/27 @ 4:30AM

Coming into the Pike Place Market in the morning during the holidays is one of the most enchanting feelings in Seattle. No delivery trucks yet, only the security guards, Harry at Pure Food Fish getting our salmon for the day and a few of us that know this feeling; early morning.

Tomorrow night is the full moon for November, so it will compete with the Christmas lights for attention, and it will win. Wherever you are tomorrow morning, before the sun rises and the moon is at its brightest, look up.

Someone you love, if they are up also, will be looking at our timeless moon glowing at the same time as you, and the reflection from the sun, to the moon and back, will mirror the beauty of our market back towards them.

It’s the spirit of the holidays, and we give thanks.

Cheers from your family at Lowell’s!

The moon, the market, holiday lights and waking up to them all, today, November 27, 2012
