Lowell's Restaurant Seattle

Waking up in Pike Place Market today…

This mornings 5AM view from our 3rd floor, as the day begins in the market

When the day is waking up, the views also wake up, with artificial lights turning to daylight. Coffee is grinding, Harry is two doors down at “Pure Food Fish” filleting our whole fish fresh king salmon and halibut, and we pause for a shot of espresso and a nod to the west. Alex is cooking bacon and Ed is next door at Sosio’s unloading produce for the day. Fresh, fresh, fresh as the day. Hard to take anything for granted when the simplicity beats all. Have a great Wednesday and stop for a moment in your tracks, wherever you go… there you are!

100% Proceeds Go to the “Pike Place Market Food Bank, Senior Center & Pre-School”

100% of the proceeds of our limited edition “Hatch Show Print” Lowell’s poster benefits The Pike Place Market Food Bank, Senior Center and Pike Place Market Preschool.

Buy a treasure for $10 bucks, we give it back to our neighbor’s that need it! Win-win.

If you follow music, art, and culture of the American South, sooner or later you’re bound to run into the letters, images, and unmistakable “look” of Hatch Show Print. They are one of the oldest working letterpress print shops in America, since 1879 (27 years before Lowell’s was built).

The irresistible appeal of turn-of-the-century Hatch posters, which were used to promote vaudeville, circus, and minstrel shows across the country as well as country stars, politicians and rock stars still. There’s a reason why music lovers, Americana buffs, graphic arts collectors and designers, and commercial advertisers of all persuasions continue to turn to Hatch for inspiration.

They are, indeed, a tonic for the information age.

We get together with Hatch to design our prints, to make money for our friends & neighbors that need it. Lowell’s has produced three limited edition posters over the past three years, giving over $5,000 to these charities from the sales. Thanks to all of you that have bought them, and thank you to anyone that wants to donate for the remaining run of this edition.

Cheers to all, Mark Monroe & Bill Chatalas

Small Taps, Big Local Beers!

Rotating local ales

Georgetown’s “Manny’s” & Pike Place Brewing’s “Kilt Lifter” Scotch Ales

We can only hold two tap handles at Lowell’s, because back in 1906 the builders didn’t anticipate our thirsty needs. But with 20-ish plus bottled beers and a few cans also, we have what you want & need to quench the fire within. Visit both these brewery’s (Pike Place Brewing is here in the market and Georgetown Brewing is in, well, Georgetown) and have the beer at the source, after trying them here. They are super cool friends with other great selections!

Cheers to everyone, everywhere, all the time, ~Mark, Jeremy, Juan & the family at Lowell’s Restaurant & Bar

It’s Warm at Lowell’s, on the Other Side of the Windows…Chilling!

Elliott Bay from our windows!

With Thanksgiving coming up November 22, here come our most comforting specials for the snow, wind, rain & sleet. Slow braised briskets with roasted winter root veggies and garlic mashed potatoes, Smoked King Salmon & Yukon potato hash with poached eggs and herb hollandaise sauce on side AND our “soon to be famous locals favorite sandwich” the amazing house smoked and bacon wrapped home-made meatloaf sandwich on rustic rosemary bread (or white bread, if preferred) with tomato-bacon jam, mixed field greens and cranberry mayo! Check here daily for upcoming specials, as we source the market daily for the freshest seasonal ingredients.

Of course, with our bartenders whipping up  our spiked winter warmers. Mmmmm, hot buttered Washington apple cider with pumpkin-pie spices, dark rum and Tuaca is currently filling the room with holiday aromas,  deep, hearty, Samual Smith’s Oatmeal Stout putting a froth on mustaches and mellow glasses of nice red wine putting rosy glows on wind-whipped cheeks!

We’re making merry while other’s stress (I hope not, but I was shopping yesterday)!

Don’t hit the streets without a comfortable start, and you will remember these days more fondly!

Good Morning Seattle!

Shot at food photo class at Delancy Pantry in Ballard yesterday

Big thanks to Gabe & Ashley (at Delancy Kitchen classes this past Sunday) for teaching me to shoot arty pictures with my phone. Who would have known we could get all fancy with a phone, two pears, a dish rag and a piece of painted wood from Home Depot? ~Mark

Hot spiked Washington Apple-Pear Cider with pumpkin pie spices and dark, mellow rum & Tuaca! C’mon in out of the cold and grab a hot spiced cider, a plate of slow braised corned beef brisket hash & eggs with hashbrowns and sourdough toast. Then, from your warm perch hidden away on the 3rd floor, watch the ships sail into port and the ferries cross Puget Sound, where everyone is freezing their butts off. Warm, laughter, great food-drink & company and the Pacific Northwest outside just moving along. Cheers to all, write us and tell us what you would like to see on our menu, but remember, we have a REALLY small kitchen, and three floors of seating, so it can’t hobble my cooks too much because they already do the impossible!
